    A short boat ride takes us to the small island of Koh Phangan where we have the next few days to explore the island's waterfalls, swim in its lagoons or just relax.

    Arrive in the afternoon in time for a sunset cocktail with some time for exploration of this island well known for its magnificent beaches and party nightlife.
    Day 6 Nakhon Si Thammarat
    Ferry ride back to the mainland, then transfer to one of Thailand's most ancient cities.

    Cross the border into Malaysia. Optional city tour or go visit to Kek Lok Si temple, Little India or Chinatown.

Visit the incredible Shwedagon Pagoda before hiking to Golden Rock.
Day 3 Bago/Mandalay (1B)
Explore Bago, old capital of the Mon people and home to the biggest reclining Buddha in Burma. Return to Yangon and take an evening flight to Mandalay.
Days 4-5 Mandalay (2B)
Explore Mandalay's ancient temples and other beautiful sites such as the Golden Monastery. While here, visit nearby ancient royal capital of Amarapura where you can opt to traverse the world's longest teak bridge before continuing on to the village of Mingun.
Days 6-8 Bagan (3B)
We cruise down the Irrawaddy River to ancient Bagan. Included visit to the ancient site which includes hundreds of temples and stupas. Visit the Nyaung Oo market.
Day 9-10 Kalaw (2B,1L)
Our drive with a visit en route to Mt Popa takes us to the cooler air of this former British hill station. Enjoy a half day trek in the area, stopping off to visit a local hilltribe.
Days 11-12 Inle Lake (2B)
Travel by bus to serene Inle, home to the Intha people and floating villages and gardens, stopping en route to visit the Pindaya caves. Explore the lake by boat and visit some of its floating villages. You might spot the famous leg rowers during the tour.
Day 13 Yangon (1B)
Fly back to Yangon for a final chance to explore and shop in the old capital.

Day 2 Hong Kong/China border
Visit Stanley Market or catch the views of Hong Kong from Victoria Peak. Overnight train to Guilin (Yangshuo).
Day 3-6 Yangshuo
Options to cycle through the countryside of Yangshuo, experience a local cooking school, practice tai chi, or see the Light and Sound show produced by Zhang Yimen, of the film 'Hero' and the Beijing Olympics Opening and Closing ceremonies acclaim. Overnight train to Chongqin on day 6.
Day 7-9 Three Gorges
An amazing 2-day boat journey along the mighty Yangtze River, cutting through the magnificent Three Gorges. Overnight train to Xi'an on day 9.
Day 10-12 Xi'an
We take an orientation walk around this historical city. Optional visit to China’s greatest archaeological treasures – the Terracotta Warriors. Option to cycle the ancient city walls. Overnight train to Shanghai on day 12.
Day 13-15 Shanghai
Free time to explore this vibrant and exotic city. Options include a visit to the world famous Shanghai Museum or witnessing the breathtaking Chinese Acrobats.
Day 16-17 Beijing
Transport included to the Great Wall. Options include exploring Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven.

Guided longboat tour of Bangkok's klongs followed by a visit to Wat Po. Overnight train to Chiang Mai.
Day 3 Chiang Mai
Guided tour of Doi Suthep temple, optional cooking class or bicycle tour.
Day 4-6 Hilltribe Trek (3B,2L,3D)
Trek through the hills of the north, staying in remote hilltribe villages and eating locally prepared meals. Take an elephant ride through the jungle.
Day 7-8 Chiang Mai/Overnight Train (2B)
Post-trek massage anyone? Overnight train on day 8 to Ayuthaya.
Day 9 Ayuthaya
Visit the historical sites of the old capital city of Ayuthaya.

  • Day 1 Bangkok

    Days 2-3 Kanchanaburi (2B)
    We head to Kanchanaburi, home to the bridge Over the River Kwai. Take a train journey on the Death Railway, visit the Thai/Burma War Museum and War Cemetery.
    Day 4 Ayutthaya (B,D)
    Travel by bus to Ayutthaya and explore the restored Khmer temple of Phnom Rung and the Muang Tam sanctuary on bicycle followed by a rice barge dinner.
    Day 5 Sukhothai (B)
    Catch minivans and head to Sukhothai and wander the ancient ruins of this old capital of Siam.
    Days 6-8 Chiang Mai (3B,L,D)
    Head to the capital of the North. Visit the Elephant Conservation Centre, listen to monks chanting at Doi Suthep Temple and enjoy a traditional Khantoke Dinner.
    Days 9-10 Hua Hin (2B)
    A short flight and transfer takes us to the beach, time to push back and relax after a busy few days.

    Return to bustling Bangkok for last minute shopping followed by an evening river cruise and dinner.
